Your Council

Your Council has been elected by the residents of the parish to represent them in dealings which affect our parish.

The councillors are not paid but do it from a desire to serve the community in which they live or work.

Councillors are elected every four years although an interim vacancy can be filled in one of two ways.

An election can be called or an individual can be co-opted to the council as a councillor or as a member of a sub-commitee.

We currently have two vacancies for councillors and welcome anyone with an interest in the parish to come along to the parish meetings. We also have several co-opted members of committees who bring their skills to help us in specific areas.

To qualify as a councillor you must be:

aged 18 years or over and be a Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of an EU member state

and meet one of the following criteria

– be a local government elector in the parish (ie on the electoral roll)
– owned or rented land within the parish for the last twelve months
– lived in the parish or within 4.8 kilometres (3 miles) of it for the last twelve months
– worked in the parish for the last twelve months
