Recently taken over by Boots. As I found out recently there is no longer a rota list of duty chemists open outside normal hours available in the windows. The official advice is to call NHS Direct on 0845 4647. No longer a 10 second glance at the list – now a diagnosis and lots of questions. I ended up calling the chemist from the web starting with those closest until one answered.

Potential Skate Park

Some younger parishioners with a passion for skateboarding gave a very good presentation to the Parish Council at the last meeting. We are currently investigating the possibility of locating one on the playing field, in the far corner away from properties. Funding will be the ultimate decider, if anybody has any views either way or is aware of funding opportunities please get in touch with the clerk; clerk@bathford.net

A Great Success!

A big thanks to all the villagers who supported our Flower Show by entering or attending.  The lovely weather made attending a very pleasant experience and most of our visitors enjoyed our hospitality; thanks to our tea, coffee and cake stall staff! Record numbers entered the photographic section and there were some stunning photos. The judge commented on the quality of entries. Unfortunately the flan section saw several soggy bottoms; however, the judge found a great many quality cakes and breads to which she awarded prizes. Again, the Committee were delighted with the number of entries. This year the entries in the children’s section were outstanding with the most delightful miniature gardens and other treats for our visitors. Gordon Drewett, our resident village character and gardening expert, produced a range of flowers and vegetables that left many visitors amazed. Several commented that for a small village we clearly had some very talented people. Arts and crafts did not disappoint although entries were down this year. A reminder that our AGM is on October 26th at 8pm.  Please do come along; especially if you feel you could give up a few hours a year to keep this wonderful, traditional institution going, as several of our Committee are getting older and would love to see some young blood!
