Valley Parishes Alliance

The Avon & Limpley Stoke Valley is an exceptional area. Protecting and conserving it, in the face of major regeneration and development in the wider BANES and Wiltshire area, is an ever increasing challenge. A cross-border Valley Parishes Alliance (VPA) has, therefore, been established to provide a unified voice on social, economic and environmental issues which could affect BANES and Wiltshire communities in the valley.

Bathford Parish Council is represented and they have just set up their own Valley Parishes Alliance website

The Parish Plan

This has now been published and a summary was delivered to all households within the Parish with the Bulletin. The full version is available for viewing on the notice boards in the Community Shop, in the Parish Office and in the Parish Hall. It is also available from this website using the link below but please be aware that it will take around 15 minutes to download on a standard dialup connection.

What is a Village Design Statement?

We all agree that Bathford is unique, but what makes it special?

The Village Design Statement, which has a wealth of detail on the Parish, has been approved and copies can be viewed in the Parish Office or available for sale to cover printing costs. As the full original document is 64 colour pages it was too large until now to place on the website but it has now been split into sections for ease of access.

Smart cameras to help Council understand and improve air quality

Smart cameras and equipment to count incoming traffic are to be deployed by Bath & North East Somerset Council at a range of locations including rush hour hotspots over the coming weeks.   The temporary measures, installation of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and automated traffic count (ATC) equipment, are aimed at building up a better understanding of the sort of vehicles that journey into and out of Bath as proposals are developed to improve air quality along the A4 London to Bath road.   The Council has worked closely with the central government Joint Air Quality Unit (JAQU) on the nature and extent of the surveys which will run for two weeks from Friday with additional traffic counts being carried out to supplement the ANPR data.   Bath has been identified by the Government as an area where nitrogen dioxide levels are projected to exceed national air quality objectives beyond 2021.Work being undertaken by the Council will explore measures which will improve air quality.   The Council is preparing an initial action plan which will be finalised by March 2018 to be followed by a final draft before the end of next year. This strategy will build upon the wider Bath Air Quality Action Plan which is currently being consulted on.   Councillor Bob Goodman, (Conservative, Combe Down)

Potential Skate Park

Some younger parishioners with a passion for skateboarding gave a very good presentation to the Parish Council at the last meeting. We are currently investigating the possibility of locating one on the playing field, in the far corner away from properties. Funding will be the ultimate decider, if anybody has any views either way or is aware of funding opportunities please get in touch with the clerk; clerk@bathford.net
